Discover CALB’s latest breakthrough in energy storage with the new 588Ah and 684Ah battery cells. Featuring 15,000+ cycles and zero degradation, these cells power innovative, high-density storage systems for a sustainable future.

CALB Launches “ZhiJiu Series” Featuring Groundbreaking 588AH and 684A Cells, Forging Alliances to Accelerate Global Energy Storage Expansion

BEIJING – November 13, 2024 – CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery), a leading global innovator in lithium battery technology, made a significant stride in the energy storage sector at its “Co-building AI Ecosystem, Co-creating Energy Civilization” 2025 Global Partners Conference. The event was marked by the grand unveiling of the ZhiJiu (To-Longevity) Series, a new lineup of energy storage products headlined by two next-generation storage cells: the CALB 588AH and the CALB 684A.

These new cells are engineered to set a new benchmark for safety, longevity, and efficiency in large-scale energy storage applications.

Breakthrough Performance of CALB 588AH and CALB 684A Cells

The CALB 588AH and the higher-capacity CALB 684A cells incorporate cutting-edge technologies designed to address key industry challenges:

  • Uncompromising Safety: Utilizing a proprietary热电分离 (Thermo-Electric Separation) design and dual insulation technology, the cells effectively isolate thermal runaway pathways, ensuring enhanced operational safety.

  • Industry-Leading Longevity: With full-lifecycle lithium replenishment technology, the cells demonstrate zero capacity degradation for the first three years. They are rated for an exceptional 15,000+ cycles, drastically reducing the levelized cost of storage (LCOS) over the system’s lifetime.

  • High Energy Density: Achieving an impressive energy density of 450 Wh/L, the cells enable more compact and powerful energy storage solutions, optimizing space utilization.

Complete Storage System Solutions

Leveraging the CALB 588AH and CALB 684A cells, CALB also introduced its comprehensive ZhiJiu Series Energy Storage Systems. This portfolio includes:

  • A standard 20-foot 6.25MWh containerized system.

  • A flexible long-duration energy storage platform offering three configurations:

    • 10-foot 3.45MWh Compact System

    • 20-foot 6.9MWh System

    • 30-foot 12.5MWh System
This versatile range is designed to meet the diverse deployment needs of utility-scale, commercial, and industrial energy storage projects worldwide.

Strategic Partnerships to Strengthen Global Supply Chain

In a parallel move to solidify its market position and accelerate global deployment, CALB announced deep strategic collaborations with multiple industry leaders. The partner list includes prominent names such as CRRC Zhuzhou Institute, TBEA, Xinyuan Zhichu, XJ Etech Energy Storage (a subsidiary of China Electric Equipment Group), Zhongchu Tech, Goldwind, Tianjin Ruiyuan, POWERCHINA Beijing Engineering, Meishan Industrial Investment, and Henan Water Investment. These alliances are poised to enhance collaborative R&D, production capacity, and market penetration.

Looking Forward

With the mass production of the ZhiJiu Series and the strengthening of its cooperative ecosystem, CALB is strategically positioned to accelerate its footprint in the global energy storage market. The introduction of the high-performance CALB 588AH and CALB 684A cells underscores the company’s commitment to driving the global transition towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
